my first picnic of the year.

Today, me and two of my best friends headed out in the car to Abbots Wood. It is a beautiful woodland set in the Sussex countryside just a short drive from our town. We laid out our blankets in the warm Spring sun and gobbled down all the food we took with us in our picnic. We have had abnormally warm, sunny weather here at the moment so we decided to make the most out of it. Lazing about in the sun, we caught up, listened to music and played games. Later on in the afternoon we attempted the assault course and went for a stroll through the woods. It was a perfect day.

I really like the outfit I wore today. My new blue floral dress is ideal for Spring and Summer, teamed with leggings and my cardigan kept me warm but still with a Summery edge. I styled my hair messy with two parts pinned up at the sides. You will all have seen my mint coloured pumps on previous outfit posts by hey! they are perfect for kicking about in and match my nail polish and ring so amazingly. This is the exact kind of outfit I love wearing when the days warms up. It is casual, comfortable a little bit glamorous and the dress is insanely versatile.

To make things even more exciting, it is my 19th Birthday tomorrow!! Cannot believe I am nearly 19, 20 next year. Where has all the time gone? Well I will be sure to take a lot of photos of tomorrow and will share them with you next week.

I hope you have all had a wonderfully sunny Sunday today! Let me know what you got up to this weekend...

A little note about tomorrow.

I have had such a busy week so far. Haven't had much time to share things with you but I am heading up to London tomorrow! Exciting. With London Fashion Week starting I am hoping to see all the fashion lovers out in the city and get some great snaps. I can't wait to just have a day to chill out, do some photography and visit some of London's most established sights. I have seen the whole Buckingham palace thing before but I have never been to Harrods.

Will be sharing my day's adventure though my photos over the weekend and will try and get a few snaps of my outfit if possible!

Also, I reached 100 followers this week. I have been waiting for this for such a long time and almost cannot believe I have finally got here. I want to have gained another 100 throughout this year - that is my mission.

Have a great Friday tomorrow :) I can't wait for mine!!

Check out my photography page?

I love photography. Photography is a big part of fashion and both are an even bigger part of my life. My camera is great. It wasn't expensive but it serves me just fine. One day I will buy it some new lenses and be able to expand the content and quality of my photos but for now I am just an unemployed 18 year old, travelling in Australia during my gap year and documenting all the amazing things I am getting to see. To check out some of my work, visit:

My Guide to the Little Red Dress.

It seems that red is the colour of the moment. Magazines are telling us to forget about our LBD's (little black dresses) and update our wardrobe by finding ourselves a LRD (see title*). Every show on TV is talking about the red trend and so after a while I decided to take a leap and go for it. Having red hair, people are always telling me or 'advising' me that I should avoid red. I have tried my hardest to ignore the berry reds every Winter and pass by the bold reds in the Summer but this year I have decided to stop avoiding it and give it a go. Below is my simple and stylish guide to finding a Red that suits you...

Which RED is for me?

If you have Fair Skin...a Blue undertone red will suit you better. It is hard to describe this kind of red, but it is a light, cooler colour that verges more into the blue/ purple spectrum. Dark burgundy reds tend to suit you well and add depth to your colouring.

If you have a Medium Skin tone...an Orangey red is probably best. The warmth in your skin compliments the warmth of the colour. It would probably be best to avoid cold reds as it could wash the warmth out of your skin but there are always exceptions to the rule.

If you have a Dark Skin tone...any colour red will suit you. You can go as dark or light as you like it's just about finding the colour you like the best. Pillar box red is perfect as it has a strong balance between being both bright but also bold.

As previously mentioned, there are ALWAYS exceptions to any rule of fashion. It used to be frowned upon to mix patterns and now it is all over the catwalks. Horizontal stripes are supposed to add pounds whereas on me, they always seems to flatter.

These are my favourites from some of my favourite shops:
Dorothy Perkins

TopShop
Miss Selfridge
ASOS
So this morning my red dress arrived in the post. Excitedly I tried it on and to my surprise, I loved it. It was comfortable, complimented my shape, the colour surprisingly suited me and was perfect for dining out when I go to Australia. Below is a picture of the dress I bought, pictures to follow in my next post (soon).

Evans £50

What do you think about the Red Trend and have you/are you going to buy into it? What colours do you think look best worn with Red?

Let me know what you think about this post or any of the things I have said by leaving a comment below!

Gossip Girl: Serena Vs. Blair

I don't know if you watch Gossip Girl, if you don't then you should. Even if you hate their voices or the fact that they are rich and self absorbed , the fashion IS amazing. My friend Katie, who got me into it, always raved about the amazing clothes the two main girls wear. I'm talking about Serena and Blair. What is so great about them, is the fact they they are both stylish but in a completely different way. Every episode I find myself subconsciously putting them (mentally) in a fashion fight against each other and seriously asking myself, who would win?

Blair
Blair (on the left) dresses sweetly. Lots of pastel colours, lady like blouses, silk or lace gloves, bows, cute pumps and elegant evening dresses exuding old Hollywood glamour without the tackiness. If you can believe it, her style does not in anyway resemble her personality. She could be described as manipulative, scheming and at times; brilliant. Her fashion is always refreshing because she somehow makes innocent and diplomatic ensembles sexy. She doesn't wear short skirts every week or revealing dresses. Although that will not be to some peoples taste, I definitely believe, at times, that in terms of both sexuality and fashion, less (flesh on display) is more. However, in some cases, their is nothing better than a mini dress or a low cut cocktail dress - it's just nice to see something new. Here are some of my favourite outfits throughout thee series' (all of these imaged have been taken from Google and do not belong to me):

Serena
Serena's style is sexy, glamorous, modern and chic. Every outfit is feminine and yet has a slight androgynous feel. Having the longest legs in the world, she tends to have them on display...not that you can blame her...with short, sassy dresses or tight jeans. I have to say my favourite thing about her, is the effortless of all her outfits. She looks casual and yet her outfits can go from day to night; restaurant to bar. She also has a natural coolness to how she wears her outfits, with her boho blonde locks and natural make up (clear skin, glossed lips and light smoky eyes). Her outfits are always season appropriate and I would argue, could look high fashion in a bin bag. Here are my favourite picks of her outfits through out gossip girl:

So which is better? Well my winner has to be, 100%... Blair!
She is different, feminine, current and yet classic. She experiments and has such a signature look that I am inclined to do a Blair Waldorf outfit post!!

Who is your winner and why?

Thank-you for reading,

P.S I am heading up to London's famous Carnaby street! I am going to be setting out with my Camera and snapping up some great street style shots. It should be next week or the week after, so I can't wait to show you all the work I have done.

P.P.S Also, please check out my poll and give me some feedback!

Product Review - New V05 Range!!

Okay, so I have been meaning to do some products reviews, although I am never too sure what to test. But last week, as I was flicking through my already devoured Cosmo magazine, I came across a tester. VO5's new Haircare range has been highly advertised throughout the UK recently, from bus-stops, to billboards to TV adverts. So I decided this may be a good chance for a post on my blog.

The next morning after removing product build up with green tea from my hair, I tried the new 'VO5, Nourish me truly' range. On the back of the sample packaging, it informs me that it is made with Cashmere Keratin extracts to 'strengthen & repair, restore & soften and leaves hair truly luxurious to the touch'.  Always sceptical, because practically every haircare range makes such promises, I was shocked to find that it actually worked!! From the moment the shampoo touched my hands, I could feel the cashmere quality. The smell hit me nearly as quickly as the silky texture, a fresh grape aroma with hints of apricot and jojoba oil. The product sample covered my hair and roots fully, as did the conditioner in replenishing the ends to middle of my hair. The sweet smell stayed with me all day, and kept my hair free from tangles, well replenished and healthy; disguising the fact that I seriously need my haircut!! The bottles are cute, modern and a good value for money. I have already ordered myself a bottle of each to test its long term benefits.

At only £1.99 a bottle from most popular retailers, I believe this is definitely a new product worth trying! I am not 100% sure whether it is available to people overseas. From researching on the VO5 website, it is NOT distributed to USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa or New Zealand but may possible been available from other retailers.

Let me know what you think of my review! Whether you have tried this product or have a different opinion on it or...
if you have any products you would like me to test and review for you!??

Thank-you for reading!!

Smokey Eye Make-up Tutorial!!

Benefits Sexy Eye & Brow Makeover Kit - £28.50 (a lot I know, but I believe completely worth it!)

I have finally done my first Make-up tutorial!!! It was pretty scary! and watching it back I look like such a prat - I am putting this down to nerves!! and that I wanted it to be natural and not too perfect! I'm not sure how good it is, so that is up to you all to decide??
I'm afraid I pull some dreadful faces, go cross eyed and forget the brands I am using...also in advance want to apologise for the time I spent on my mascara. I hope you all enjoy it or have some contructive criticism to give me.

P.s You may or may not have noticed my Blogs name has now firmly changed to 'Hailes Hearts Fashion'. It used to be called 'The Heart Of Fashion' but after some research I realised I shared my name with too many fashion blogs so made a risky decision to change to my username.

My obsession Badgley Mischka...

Hey guys! I can't believe I haven't posted in so long. I feel awful for neglecting my blog and followers but I have finally found something to write about that fills me with excitement and allows me to make some time. Since I last blogged I have discovered the delights of Badgley and Mischka an American fashion label. I don't know if you have heard about them before? They are two designers, Mark Badgley and James Mischka, who design 40's affluent inspired, glamour wear. I love their style, the detail and their approach to casual clothes, no approach. They stormed New York Fashion week were Badgley said "The clothes in that movie could have stepped off the screen and onto our runway,". Me? I love glamorous clothes. I rarelly do the whole casual thing. If I had the money...and the figure, I would live in these clothes. Also, the great thing about them is they also do Bridal wear! The dresses are so beautiful, exactly the kind of thing I would wear. Anyway, I couldn't paste any photos in to show you there latest collections but here is the website - http://www.badgleymischka.com/

Feel free to check it and let me know what you think!!

My Vintage Finds!!!

This is a post about vintage items :) One of those things that like most in fashion you will LOVE or HATE. I hope if you are a hater then my take on it can turn you to the dark side, so please read on and let me know what you think.

I'm sitting here casually listening to MGMT (currently a favourite band) and suddenly I start thinking about vintage clothes. I love vintage. I don't wear it too much because I rarely find things I like enough to spend my money on. I always hear that somebody has found their amazing dress/bag/coat/hat/shoes in a charity shop or in reclaimed vintage. So off I go to my local charity shops and more often than not I come away disappointed. A few months back however I was flicking through my Vogue when I read that Eastbourne (a local town of mine) was one of the best places to find vintage. The next I caught the bus into Eastbourne with a friend and (shockingly) found so many amazing things. My favourite item was a 1940's War style tea dress. It is navy with white, grey and red flowers on. It cinches in at the waist and had (yes had) long puffball sleeves. I wore it like that a few times but then decided to customise it. It is still in this process
but I have included in this post anyway. When it is finished I will
re-post it to show you what I have done to it. This is it to the right.

The next item I found was a pair of indie boots. I had been looking for brown ones everywhere and unfortunately these were black (off black) but also only £3 in comparison with £40 at Topshop. They are comfy, cool looking and practical - what more could you ask for in a shoe?

I then also found an amazingly cool red and black dog tooth jacket. It sadly, didn't come out as beautiful in my photos as it looks in really life. Looks a bit frumpy and orange-like. Oh well. It has cute little gold and black vintage buttons, is a lovely material and makes me feel slightly like Emily Gilmore from The Gilmore Girls but all in all - I love it. It cost me £4!! And I thank the stylish granny who decided it wasn't for her anymore.

These are my vintage items. I am planning to do a feature on my latest reclaimed vintage maybe every month of two? I can't imagine me finding stuff worth buying too often! So get out on the street. Look in your charity shops because you might find something stunning or even designer (it has been known). No harm in looking and if it's not for you then that's fine but give it a try.

So, Please let me know what you think of this post and my items above. If you hate them, let me know! If you love them then I would love to hear why.

My Favourite Fashion Snap!!

(I do not own this image)
This is one of my most FAVOURITE! pieces of fashion photography. Being an aspiring fashion photographer myself, I hope to one day capture the beauty of the ever changing fashion industry as a timeless and relatable piece. This iconic image was taken by a man named Peter Lindbergh in 1990, and perfectly captures the 'Supermodel Generation'. This was when models such as Naomi Campbell, Linda Evalgelista, Ttjana Patitz, Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford were the celebrities of the world.

Karl Lagerfeld has said, ''His photographs will never be regarded with any condescending emotion in thirty or forty years' time.''
