My Birthday: Part 2

A blurry snap of us all outside the restaurant!

Me opening my presents.
Me and my friend Kristin.
My friends Sammi and Yasmeen.

and Beckie and Katie...
I should start by saying, the pictures weren't taken on my DSLR but on a friends digital camera. I love them though. So on Friday night, me and my friends headed out to a beautiful harbour just a short drive from where we live. In the summer it is booming was tourism but on the scale of other harbours it is pretty small in comparison to others in Europe. Nevertheless, it is a great spot to go for lunch, dinner or drinks. It has a cinema within walking distance so after we ate, we headed over to watch The Hunger Games. I don't want to say too much about this film because I plan to do a post on it within the next week or so. All I will say is that, it is an amazing film that should be seen in the cinema. The narrative of the story is so grand that it would be best seen in a large cinema where it almost feels as if you are another person watching the actual Hunger Games.
(I do not own this image)
This is just a little snap of my new hair cut. I decided to go for something bold and had a big blunt fringe cut in! It is taking a bit of getting used to but it is so nice to have a change...
A snap taken on my iPod :)
Anyway, thank-you to everyone who made my Birthday wonderful and for all the lovely things I was given!

Happy Sunday Everyone! Let me know what you have all been up to this weekend?

Today, me and two of my best friends headed out in the car to Abbots Wood. It is a beautiful woodland set in the Sussex countryside just a short drive from our town. We laid out our blankets in the warm Spring sun and gobbled down all the food we took with us in our picnic. We have had abnormally warm, sunny weather here at the moment so we decided to make the most out of it. Lazing about in the sun, we caught up, listened to music and played games. Later on in the afternoon we attempted the assault course and went for a stroll through the woods. It was a perfect day.

I really like the outfit I wore today. My new blue floral dress is ideal for Spring and Summer, teamed with leggings and my cardigan kept me warm but still with a Summery edge. I styled my hair messy with two parts pinned up at the sides. You will all have seen my mint coloured pumps on previous outfit posts by hey! they are perfect for kicking about in and match my nail polish and ring so amazingly. This is the exact kind of outfit I love wearing when the days warms up. It is casual, comfortable a little bit glamorous and the dress is insanely versatile.

To make things even more exciting, it is my 19th Birthday tomorrow!! Cannot believe I am nearly 19, 20 next year. Where has all the time gone? Well I will be sure to take a lot of photos of tomorrow and will share them with you next week.

I hope you have all had a wonderfully sunny Sunday today! Let me know what you got up to this weekend...

Party Season = Party Dresses!!

Sadly I have no money to buy any Party Dresses but HEY! a girl can still look, right? A girl can also still post about it. Looking is free thank goodness. So yes, as I was saying...I'm poor. So poor, that I am attempting to stretch £10 further than it will ever possibly go. I'm making jams and chutneys, jewellery, cards and sweets - believe it or not, I have at least 9 people to buy for! Normally it would be more like 15 but my friends and I have decided to just go out for Christmas this year and leave presents. We all could do with saving a few pounds and Christmas is about the company not the presents. Well that's what they say anyway!

Back to fashion. I love buying myself a couple of new dresses around Christmas and knowing that I have at least two of my outfits sorted. This year however, buying presents has to be my priority. I like to buy something quite colourful or sparkly and also something quite simple and versatile. Then I can mix the outfits around and make a few different outfits out of two dresses. This year I am making use of the clothes I already have. Luckily I have plenty of dresses so I should be at the majority of events I attend...

Here are a few of my favourites:

And then again in purple...

My Guide to the Little Red Dress.

It seems that red is the colour of the moment. Magazines are telling us to forget about our LBD's (little black dresses) and update our wardrobe by finding ourselves a LRD (see title*). Every show on TV is talking about the red trend and so after a while I decided to take a leap and go for it. Having red hair, people are always telling me or 'advising' me that I should avoid red. I have tried my hardest to ignore the berry reds every Winter and pass by the bold reds in the Summer but this year I have decided to stop avoiding it and give it a go. Below is my simple and stylish guide to finding a Red that suits you...

Which RED is for me?

If you have Fair Skin...a Blue undertone red will suit you better. It is hard to describe this kind of red, but it is a light, cooler colour that verges more into the blue/ purple spectrum. Dark burgundy reds tend to suit you well and add depth to your colouring.

If you have a Medium Skin tone...an Orangey red is probably best. The warmth in your skin compliments the warmth of the colour. It would probably be best to avoid cold reds as it could wash the warmth out of your skin but there are always exceptions to the rule.

If you have a Dark Skin tone...any colour red will suit you. You can go as dark or light as you like it's just about finding the colour you like the best. Pillar box red is perfect as it has a strong balance between being both bright but also bold.

As previously mentioned, there are ALWAYS exceptions to any rule of fashion. It used to be frowned upon to mix patterns and now it is all over the catwalks. Horizontal stripes are supposed to add pounds whereas on me, they always seems to flatter.

These are my favourites from some of my favourite shops:

So this morning my red dress arrived in the post. Excitedly I tried it on and to my surprise, I loved it. It was comfortable, complimented my shape, the colour surprisingly suited me and was perfect for dining out when I go to Australia. Below is a picture of the dress I bought, pictures to follow in my next post (soon).

What do you think about the Red Trend and have you/are you going to buy into it? What colours do you think look best worn with Red?
