Fruity Fashion.

Accessorize £9 (I DO NOT OWN THIS IMAGE)
Don't lie. You love my necklace. I know you do. And, I mean, lets be honest, why wouldn't you? It is the cutest use of the strawberry that I can think of. I don't have much money at the moment and haven't had too much of my style and outfit posts to share with you, but I felt that you needed to see this. My mum bought it for me. She saw me standing in the shop just staring at in. In a bit of a trance I think. In my head I was thinking ''I want you soo badly, why don't I have £9! Then I would buy you!!!'' and my mum came over and said, do you want it? And I was like ''no...'' because I didn't want her spending her money on me just because I looked sad. 5 minutes later I am walking around with it in my hand bag. NO!! I didn't steal it. She asked me again and I said yes. So, yeah, she bought it for me. It isn't the BEST photo because I used my Ipod Touch instead of my SLR.

My crappy picture :)
Another necklace I really liked, also follows the fruity theme. I think it is such a great trend for Spring and Summer. I can see someone like Katy Perry wearing this. It has that real preppy kinda vibe! Below is another necklace I LOVE. When my money comes through, I might even treat myself to this little cute bitten apple...

P.s Even though I am re-taking my English exam this Summer, a University offered me a place last week! I plan to study English and Creative writing and will hopefully be able to get into Fashion Journalism in the future. If you are in Uni, went or plan to go, I would love to know what you study/studied or are going to study!?

Thanks for reading, please leave your thoughts below :) I love hearing what you all think!

The three H's!

Hair Dryer. Harry Potter. Hayley's Birthday.

Okay so my Birthday is exactly two months away today. My 19th! I know it is a while but I am so useless at writing lists and this year, my parents are going to have one very, very early. My birthday has always been something I look forward to and is such a perfect excuse to get my friends home from University and some quality time with my family. Other than hoping for the Complete Harry Potter DVD box-set, I really want a new hair dryer! Not sure if you know this, but air drying just isn't quick enough! Nor is hanging your head out the window. Before you think I am mad and been living in a cave, I used to have one! Basically, the fuse died on my first and I, erm, broke my second one. Apparently they're not waterproof (twice). However, I am strongly considering asking for a more expensive one. Like with my straighteners, I gave up on the cheaper makes and finally succumbed to the wonder that is GHD. Maybe it is worth buying paying more for one that lasts instead of replacing each crappy one with an equally crappy one. This is one of the nicest I have found so far! Such a passive buyer I can be, the product description actually had me in a weird kinda fashion trance:

''She’s got the perfect silhouette; amazing lines and curves in all the right places. She’s the envy of the others – stylish, smart, fresh, cool and commanding. Everybody’s talking about her. The music starts, the lights go down, a hush falls upon the front row. The time has come to make her debut. She strides out, confident and powerful. The flashbulbs are blinding; the applause is deafening. Meet our new supermodel, ghd air.''

GHD AIR. £99 (I do not own this image)

This hair dryer not only looks pretty sleek and beautiful but will hopefully rub some of its perfection off on me. It would save me time and frizz, but I would also have to compromise my DVD box-set and the Illamasqua lip stick I have been dying for! Decisions, decisions.

What do you think? Is it worth buying a quality hair dryer? Do you have one similar to this? Let me know your thoughts!

Who's that Girl?

(I do not own this image)
Since New Girl hit our screens here in the UK, I have become even more Zooey Deschanel obsessed. I guess it is a program that girls are bound to love. In a the briefest summary possible, it is the story of Jess. A unique, offbeat girl. Having recently broken up with her boyfriend Spencer, Jess moves in with three very single guys. She is a little quirky at times, also a bit socially inept but it is pretty impossible not to warm to her cute personality and endearing ways. I think the guys are beginning to understand her too!

In terms of fashion, I love everything she wears. She is the modern interpretation of geek-chic with a real American feel to her outfits. She is casually beautiful and charmingly preppy. Perfect combination right?

(I do not own this image)
(I do not own any of these images)
To check out her style - New Girl is on every Friday night, channel 4 at 8:30pm. Definitely worth watching! Below is a trailer :)

So anyway, let me know what you think of Jess' style?

Thanks for reading,

Riley rocking the red carpet.

Yes I know. The Golden Globes are so last week. Old News. However, I never did a post on the Golden Globes because I felt the topic had been successfully covered. That was until I spotted a picture of a certain star. One who didn't seem to feature in any of the posts I read. She has been one of my biggest fashion inspirations in the last 12 months and I think this is a prime example of her flawless style. (Below) Amber Riley looks amazing wearing this strapless Badgley Mischka dress. Effortlessly beautiful, elegant and unique; Riley looks very different to all the other women on the red carpet. That alone, in my eyes, earns her a beautiful thumbs-up. It is so refreshing to see a curvaceous woman showing her figure and not hiding behind baggy tops. It gives me the confidence to do the same. Therefore, she has to be my best dressed, closely followed by Emma Stone's timeless ensemble.

What do you think of Amber's look? Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts!

Just a quick thought: The Louboutin Shoe

Just a quick thought I wanted to share with you guys:

"Whilst doing my daily Designer Window Shop, I came across these insanely beautiful Christian Louboutin shoes, worth an equally insane $2,695. Sadly, I couldn't find the equivalent in British Pounds. These shoes have a kind of Mexican native feel but also seem reminiscent of a tribal culture, especially with the beaded pearl effect. I snapped this photo of the computer from my iPod Touch because it wouldn't let me save the picture. Just thought you would love to see these and like, me drool over the possibility of owning them."

Nails, out of this world.

Did you know that our moon is slowly drifting away from earth at a rate of 3.8cm per year or that the sun light we see is over 30,000 years old. Space is a beautifully complex thing, something so impossible to comprehend that it can leave you feeling insignificant and uncomfortable but at the same time - completely entranced and absorbed...
(I do not own this image)
With the scene set I wonder if, like me, the image of space and distant galaxies is fascinating. In the last few months I have seen many posts of my absolute favourite nail art design, the 'Galaxy Effect'. If you are wondering what I am talking about then imagine this, an incredulously vast black space filled with mysterious and alluring colours. Distant blues, vast violets and vibrant purples swirling together and creating something both creepy and beautiful (see image above). Now place the image in your head onto a nail and Voilà  - the eponymous, 'Galaxy Effect'.

We saw it in Christopher Kane's 2011 design, when he created the infinitely famous halter-neck Galaxy-print dress. Possibly one of my favourite designs, ever. It seemed to be mostly advertised through Alexa Chung in magazines. I'm sure you'd agree, not a dress that is easily forgotten...

So anyway, as I am writing this, I am listening to 'space music' and by space music, I simply mean that I typed  'space music' into You Tube. I wanted to really get into this post. So yes, my nails. I took inspiration from so many of you and wanted to show my own version. Now by no means do nails come easily to me - it is something I have to force myself into but re-creating this look has been one of my favourite things I have tried since starting this blog. I hope you like what you see. I hope it looks like a distant galaxy. From all the different nail-polish fumes - I am pretty sure I was taken to into space for a brief period of time...

I created the look with:

Models own, Barry M, Accessorize, Virgin V and 2true.

Very cheap glitter
Let me know what you think, I always like to hear back from you all!

Burberry Collection 2012

Trying to pick my favourite Fashion house or designer is always difficult. However when it comes to Designer, in the last few years, I have always had a fascination with Burberry and Christopher Baileys creations. When I was younger I used to immediately think of those fake 'Chavy' looking caps and wonder how this is fashion?! However, as I have grown up, subscribed to Vogue and actually seen the things they sell my opinion has somewhat changed. No, I still hate those hats. I do now appreciate the beautiful bags and clothing they sell. It all has such a timeless and luxurious quality. Although some would disagree, I always feel that Burberry is wearable and doesn't exude of costume design in the same way as the house Alexander Mcqueen. Don't get me wrong, I love those beautiful, couture style dresses but I would have nowhere to wear them even if I did have the money to buy one.

Here are a few of my favourite pieces I saw on Burberry's Facebook page, you may have already seen them but I wanted to share with those who haven't.

I love the beautiful, deep colours used. The way they almost challenge the conventions of Spring and Summer but are still reminiscent of these seasons in style. The bags in particular feel laid back, casual and new - exactly the kind of bag that will filter through to high-street fashion and will be on every woman's shoulder between the ages of 14-40. We all LOVE those bags that we can chuck all our make-up into, our sunnies, maybe a cardigan in case it gets cold and all the other strange stuff we seem to accumulate for that 'just in case moment'. Just me?

I chose this photo because it just transcends Burberry to me. It is the subtle changes in design that keep it recognisable, current and so brilliantly classic.

Thank-you for reading,

My Pick: Beautifully Vintage

I tend to be drawn to vintage styles. I love 1940's tea dresses, brogues, old-fashioned patched up suit jackets and satchels. I just think that it is an easy way to look fashionable but not seem like you are playing it too safe. We know Fashion is all about taking a few risks. Sometimes we get it wrong and other times pieces become timeless and it is impossible to trip yourself up. I have so many dresses in my wardrobe. Majority screaming the 1940's. I love wearing red lips so naturally they are a favourite choice. Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter; they transcend me through the different seasons of the year. I have found some really cute ones at Joe Browns. As you all know, I am living on a tiny budget at the moment so the fact that they are on sale makes them even easier to look at!

My Pick:

£14.95

£8.95

£11.95

Let me know what you think of My Pick. Maybe they aren't for you or maybe, like me, you own a few too many!*

Thank-you for reading :)

P.s After looking back at my New Years Day post last year, my target was to reach 50 followers by 2012. I currently have 77!!

Sunday 8 January 2012

Today I am wearing.

Today I am wearing...a tribal printed high-waisted skirt, cream top, grey cardigan and leggings. Not really had anything much to do apart from catching up with an old friend and cooking my family a Turkish meal. Just your ordinary Sunday I guess.

So the end of another week. Mine has been filled with friends, films, buses and job interviews! Hope you all have had a happy Sunday and so another week begins...

Sunday 1 January 2012

What did you achieve in 2011?

Are New Years Resolutions worth making? I don't know. I seem to make the same ones every year which means of course, that I repeatedly fail. I guess it gives you inspiration for the beginning of the year, like, ''this year is going to be different, better'' but ultimately it is the things we don't do that we dwell on rather than the things we really have accomplished. I can easily sit here and list all of the things I wish I had done in 2011, moan about the way things should have turned out but 2011 is the past. It's just another year. We have to accept it and move on to 2012.  I have decided to share 11 of my greatest achievements from last year - What did you achieve in 2011?

1. I travelled around Australia for 9 weeks, my biggest achievement.

2. I have flown right round to the other side of the world alone. Little me, a big plane, thousands of miles and a Big Wide World.

3. I got through the dread of college and passed my exams (then went partying!).

4. I have worked hard on my blog in the last few months and feel excited for the year ahead.

5. I finally went Ice Skating!!

6. I grew up and learnt to enjoy my own company (days down on the beach; just me, myself and I)

7. I snorkeled on the Great Barrier Reef! (A picture we took with our underwater camera)

7. My style has become more experimental, I even started doing outfit posts!

        9. I met the cast of Home and Away, had my photo taken with a handsome Australian man and watched them filming a Soap I have grown up with!

10. I have read some beautiful books this year, a crazy amount really. A Thousand Splendid Suns being the best.
(I do not own this image)

11. I have created some great memories with important people. Holidays, trips, birthdays and nights out.

Let me know your highlights and achievements of 2011!! No negativity...
