keeping a blog schedule.

I've debated this for a while. The schedule. Do I post when I feel like it or do I make a schedule and keep to it? I know my fors and againsts having one but in the past I've always opted on the against side. The things is, I've done the whole 'posting when I want' thing for the last four years so I feel like it's time I tried something different. In fact, I wish I'd tried it before!

As a reader, I quite like to know when to check out a blog for a new post. I find it so frustrating when I Google one of my favourites and it's been three weeks since they last posted but then I realised that it's less about knowing when they are posting and more about wanting regular content from them. There's a big difference. With everything else that's going on in my life, I rarely remember who's posting when amongst getting uni work done and going out and just existing. Does anyone care enough to remember these things? Probably not. But for me, I read blogs in between these things and I like to know that when I haven't checked a blog for a week, there'll be a post waiting for me to read.

As well as for my readers, I think that creating a schedule is also good for me as the writer.  Having a schedule should encourage me to post regularly and also consider my content more. It should make me think about covering fashion and beauty more evenly because both are as big a part of this blog as the other. Hopefully, this will also draw people to my blog because they know what they are getting. It isn't just a lucky dip. I also find that plans and lists are one step closer to achieving the thing I am trying to get done because once I've written the thought down it has taken that first step out of my brain and entered the physical world. My brain knows it is sitting on that piece of paper/ or written on my OneNote planner and is waiting to be done as opposed to jumbled up amongst all the mundane thoughts of washing my jeans, buying a loaf of bread, replacing my shampoo, remembering to watch Big Brother etc.

So from now on I'll be posting every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. A few extra posts may pop up in between those days if I do something different or special, so keep an eye out!

I'd really love to know your thoughts on this subject! I know it isn't strictly fashion or beauty related but I felt it was something I wanted to discuss. Whether you are a blogger, reader or both, I'd like to hear your thoughts on either how/if you schedule your blog (and social media) and as readers, whether you find irregular content frustrating or more authentic?

You can do this by simply just leaving a comment below or by tweeting me @hheartsfashion or following my Facebook page and dropping me a message!

Happy Monday!

P.s Excuse the silly photos! I wanted a picture to accompany this post so it wasn't just dense writing...I'm not sure how this happened...but it did.

I used to be pretty rigorous about my posting frequency but since I started my job I find I'm just too busy to attend to the blog daily anymore -- so I have a set Friday post as an anchor and then I set other posts intermittently in the week. I try to sit down every Sunday and plan my content for the week though, so that helps focus things a bit!

Having a schedule is a great idea! When I was researching blogging and how to start a blog right before I started mine, the thing I saw most was be consistent! I think it's so important, for the reasons you said! I always post every other day and I make sure I stick to it! If I ever missed one I know I would feel soooo guilty!

I run on a schedule, on occasions I may break it, but generally, I post on schedule. I opt for Monday's and Friday's. No particular reason why those days, I just like them :)
but scheduled posts are what work best for me.
Great post :)

Good luck with having a posting schedule! I've tried to do so in the past, but I've found that I end up getting frustrated with my posts when I have to rush them in order to upload according a schedule! I hope you have a better experience with it and you're right, it's good to try something new! xx

Good luck with the posting schedule! I found that when I had a schedule I would end up posting things I wasn't 100% content with and then always ended up deleting the later. I hope you have a better experience, and you're right, it's good to try something new! xx

I never really plan when to post something because I'd rather write a post when I feel inspired than writing because my schedule says I shall! But I can definitely see the positive things about having a schedule too!

This is actually an amazing idea. Even I might reconsider this as it would be really helpful whenever my schedule gets hectic.

I think usually schedules make posts a bit contrived-- I agree with you though that it often is alarming when my favorite blogger completely disappears and I'm wondering if they're okay (so strange that you can often develop that sort of concern for someone you don't know) and if they ever plan on posting again-- and then two months later they're like "lol whoops I got a cat y'all sorry I haven't had time to blog." But anyway, posting 3 times a week is quite a commitment! Best of luck & can't wait to see how it turns out--
