Adventures in the Cote d'azur

I totally forgot to mention in my last post, that I wouldn't be posting for a couple of weeks because I was going away on holiday to the South of France. Well I'm back now (as of yesterday evening) and as per usual, I'm feeling a mixture of emotions. It's nice being back and understanding signs and driving on the left side of the road but I'm missing the beautiful weather. It was practically blue skies and a minimum of 28 degrees everyday. Whereas England is more around the 20 mark and not quite as clear but I shouldn't moan cause it's actually pretty good weather for us. I'm gonna miss eating breakfast outside in the sunshine. Fresh croissants and coffee. But it's nice to have my room and my double bed back. Anyway, I thought I'd share a few pics of my holiday with you and then I'm gonna do a few separate post over the next couple of weeks of some of my favourite outfits and day trips from my holiday.

The Maxi Skirt.

[Skirt - Next, Top - George, Necklace - New Look, Jacket - New Look, Ballet pumps - New Look, Sunglasses - Dorothy Perkins, Nail Varnish - Top Shop]

Yes, I am being somewhat more bold with my outfit posts at the moment. This is the outfit I wore on Sunday. It was a lovely day and I really fancied getting my maxi skirt out. I bought it last year in the Next sales for £16, it had been reduced down from £35 (or it may have been £30). I originally planned on buying it in emerald green but only the pink was left in the sale. I really love the side split in this skirt as I think it makes more young. Maxi skirts can look a little frumpy on me, so styling is key. Having recently bought this leather jacket (see post) and necklace, I wanted to team them with it and make it more edgy as opposed to girly.

Anyway, I am now back at uni which is great. It's also bizarre because courses are ending for the summer so loads of people have moved out of halls (it feels like only yesterday that we all moved in). My course has officially finished but I still have one assignment left so am hanging around until the end of may. It was great coming back on Tuesday and seeing friends again, so other than finishing my last assignment, all that's left is enjoying the last month of my year as a fresher! Only a month, wow.

Thanks for reading,

Mixing it up a little.

Okay, so this is going to be a crazily mixed-up-post. There is so much to say so I guess I am just preparing you all...

  • I suck. How have I not posted in over a month? It's disgraceful.
  • I have missed my blog so much. People know me as a girl with a blog, if I lose it...I will just be that girl with...no blog? (erm how awkward). I'm at risk of an identity crisis!
  • I am at university still. It's going well, I guess.
  • I have a new hair cut. I'll bombard you with photos and promises now.

I recently had a full fringe cut in, where I live here in Cheltenham. It;s a little more blunt than I've had in the past. It's also a little longer than it has been in while. Above are the most common ways I wear my hair. In a messy bun, tousled, straight (occasionally) and plaits (alternating between fishtail plaits and school girl).

In terms of fashion and clothes, I have no money at the moment so my fashion is feeling a little old. I have exciting visions of myself walking around in new clothes, looking a little hipster, but sadly this cannot come true until I find myself a job...which is proving difficult. I decided to create an outfit though, to show you all what I wish I could be wearing. Darn student poverty.

Oh gosh. I guess here comes another promise. I can't be sure I will post every week, but at least every two weeks seem reasonable? I will do my very best.

Thanks for reading and i'd love to know your thoughts on my new hair cut, this outfit I wish I could buy (all from Newlook by the way) and my beautiful snowy University.

When Christmas comes to town...

Christmas is only a day away, can you believe it? Although I haven't been posting, I have certainly be
en celebrating and enjoying the build up. I have been watching all my favourite Christmas films: The Grinch, Home Alone, Nativity. I've been going to Christmas markets, listening to festive music, having festive dinners and get-togethers with my friends (uni and home friends), present shopping and today I did some last-minute-festive-cleaning, while dosing myself up on painkillers to get through another icky cold I seemed to have caught. What can I say, besides all of this I have been doing my work for University and handing in assignments. Above are pictures of The Bath Christmas Market and  The Cheltenham Christmas market (both a couple of weeks ago). Honestly, it is so lovely wandering around a market, sipping hot wine, eating hot cashew nuts and looking at things I wish I had money to buy. Seriously. Taking photos was fun. I rarely find the time to just get my camera out and focus on photography (no pun intended).

I will be posting more throughout the festive period, so keep an eye out guys!

Merry Christmas :)

D.I.Y - So I made a retro hair band.

I love pretty floral hair bands. The retro look is something I regularly try and recreate! I always used to struggle with keeping hair bands in place and ended up using a million grips that didn't hold. Then they started to bring out these beautiful hair bands that had wire inside to keep it in place and voilà! the problem was solved. Well I really wanted to make my own one so that I could chose the exact material and this weekend I did just that. Here is my little D.I.Y story...

The making process.

The finished piece.

The finished look.

I found this material for 70p in the 'scrap' basket of the material shop and knew I had to finally make my hair band. I then bought some wire to help mould the hair band along with some cotton and needles! It was easy enough to make and only took me an hour. I'm thinking of making another one in the next couple of weeks now that I know what I'm doing. Maybe I will try and make a tutorial if any one is interested?

This was my first real attempt at a bit of D.I.Y, admittedly it was simple but the point was never for it to be complex. It worked out cheaper and most importantly, I have a one of a kind hair band...I think that's pretty cool.

Let me know your thoughts!
What do you think of my home-made hair band??

Deux Macaron, s'il vous plait?

(Translated: Two Macaroons, please?)

Yesterday, my family and I headed over the English channel to France for the day. To a lot of people, that sounds pretty strange but that is the beauty of Europe right? So many diverse countries just a short drive, boat or plane journey away. So yes we headed over there and ate lots of French cuisine, shopped (will show you guys this week) and explored a place we have been so many times but somehow came across a beautiful hidden beach. Although it was cold, windy and had been raining all morning, the sun broke through the clouds by the late afternoon ready for me to take some photos. I am really happy with how they came out. I hope you guys agree?

Above are two different beaches. A self-portrait of my happy but freezing self and most importantly a picture of my favourite person in the whole world, my little brother Joshua. I thought he looked pretty cool in his blue hoodie. Like me, he loves fashion! He refuses to wear anything boring and likes to stand out. I also feel I should mention that I lost my macaroon virginity. Years of wanting to try one but knowing I had to wait to be in France, I pranced into a beautiful little boulangerie (bakery) yesterday and asked for two macaroons. Chocolate and Pistachio. I have to say, they were delicious.

On a side note: I cannot believe I haven't posted in over a week! Things have been so busy lately but I have a few things to post about from the last week and plenty of things to blog about in the coming weeks.

What did you all get up to at the weekend? Where is your favourite place to go to on a day trip?

a catch up

I love blogging but I hate posting everyday. It just feels like it isn't enough time for people to read your thoughts and see your pictures. It isn't enough time to get feed back and despite all of this...it is hard work. I like time to read your blogs and catch up on your lives. If I am writing everyday I never get time to read or...live? Those of you who post everyday or most - I applaud you. What are your secrets?!

On Friday night me and a good friend headed up to the cinema to see Titanic in 3D. Simply amazing and simultaneously devastating. We walked out and strategically kept our 3D glasses on...! Yesterday, despite the dire weather - was a brilliant day. I bought some lovely nautical accessories for my bedroom and it is in the process of looking very stylish. We then hired out two films, Hugo and The Help. As previous mentioned, I read The Help over Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have been debating as to whether I should see the film but then decided that if it corrupted my images and memory of the book, I would just have to re-read during the Summer!

Anyway, here are a few snaps from Sunday...

My lovely Grandad
On a side note, I am now up to 123 followers! I am very proud of this number and pleased to be getting new readers every week. Thanks to all of you who read, support and inspire me! I hope you all had a great Easter and I will be posting a new outfit this week.

Let me know what you though of my snaps from Sunday!

My Birthday: Part 2

A blurry snap of us all outside the restaurant!

Me opening my presents.
Me and my friend Kristin.
My friends Sammi and Yasmeen.

and Beckie and Katie...
I should start by saying, the pictures weren't taken on my DSLR but on a friends digital camera. I love them though. So on Friday night, me and my friends headed out to a beautiful harbour just a short drive from where we live. In the summer it is booming was tourism but on the scale of other harbours it is pretty small in comparison to others in Europe. Nevertheless, it is a great spot to go for lunch, dinner or drinks. It has a cinema within walking distance so after we ate, we headed over to watch The Hunger Games. I don't want to say too much about this film because I plan to do a post on it within the next week or so. All I will say is that, it is an amazing film that should be seen in the cinema. The narrative of the story is so grand that it would be best seen in a large cinema where it almost feels as if you are another person watching the actual Hunger Games.
(I do not own this image)
This is just a little snap of my new hair cut. I decided to go for something bold and had a big blunt fringe cut in! It is taking a bit of getting used to but it is so nice to have a change...
A snap taken on my iPod :)
Anyway, thank-you to everyone who made my Birthday wonderful and for all the lovely things I was given!

Happy Sunday Everyone! Let me know what you have all been up to this weekend?
