always dream big

Dreams weren't made to be small. Yes, they may be unrealistic and they may never happen but it's good to dream big. If I asked you what your dream fashion accessory would be, I would hope (and prey) that you would not tell me 'that black satchel from River Island' or 'this amazing pair of Chelsea boots from ASOS'. If that is your dream then you're lucky cause you're a million times more likely to reach yours than I am mine! 

Money isn't the most important thing to me. Pretty much everything comes before money (my family being the most important but also my friends) but it is also a big part of how we interact with those more important things and whether we like it or not, we, as society. are very focused on aesthetics and materialism. Naturally we are drawn to beautiful things. However, what we consider to be beautiful is another matter. One girls Prada is another girls Newlook...or should that be the other way around?

The joys of tights.

I have always passionately hated tights. Yes, I am self confessed tights hater. I have never found a pair that feel like they fit properly. If they are fitted nicely at the top, they are baggy at the knees. Usually though, I find they never come up high enough. They like to fall down throughout the day. They ladder and are just generally expensive pieces of material that never fit, frustrate me and ultimately end up collecting in my top draw for a year. I then throw them out, promise myself I will never buy another pair and 12 months down the line, I am getting deja vu.

I've tried so many places. Dorothy Perkins, New Look, Marks and Spencer, Evans, Simply Be, George, Tesco as well as strange online shops and they have always disappointed me. It's always a big fail. Well my friends, a break through occurred today. This happened in Primark, of all places. One of my best friends suggested Primark tights and I thought, "why the hell not!" I chose a black pair of 100 denier. They cost £2.50 and fit how I've always imagined tights should fit a person.

I'll be sure to do an outfit post in the next few days so you can see me in my new amazing tights...

Easy Glam.

The Up-do

An up-do like this is so easy and ads instant glam to the simplest of outfits. Today I wore this hairstyle with black ankle grazers, a black vest top, a ox-blood coloured bat-wing cardigan , some vintage-looking jewellery and some navy pumps. I think this looks great, no matter what your hairstyle is however it needs to be long enough to put up without layers falling out. I'm thinking of doing a tutorial post for how to do the perfect top-knot (your thoughts??).

Statement Nails

You cannot beat a great nail varnish to liven up any outfit. My friend recently bought me this as an early birthday present and it's great. It had a wide brush that makes applying it really easy and only needs one heavy coat. The make is Rimmel London and the colour is called Desire. The great thing about a colour like this is that it's bold and regal, adding quick glam to your outfit. I've had so many compliments on it and best of all, it lasts (chip-free) for 10 days.

Cute Jewellery

The best thing about jewellery is that you don't to wear a lot to make a statement. I love rings at the moment and think they are great to add a bit of fashion into your outfit. Particularly as I have no money at the moment, it's easier to justify a pair of earrings as oppose to a new dress or a handbag. This ring was given to me by a friend for Christmas. It's one of my favourite brands, Bobby Glam (to see my post on Bobby Glam, click here).

On a side note: I hope you all had a lovely pancake day. I have two pancakes which were lovely and during my munching, I decided to try lent this year (despite being very much not religious). I am attempting to go forty days and forty nights without swearing. Usually this wouldn't have been much of task for me but since coming to Uni, I am surrounded with obscenities on a daily basis and have consequently become a more frequent swearer. So yes, I'll keep you updated. I also got two results back at uni. Two 65's which are both a 2.1 which to those who don't know what I'm talking about, I basically got a B. So yes, I am very happy with my results.

It's Autumn so grab your scarf!

Autumn is finally here guys! I mean, I guess it started a few weeks ago but only now is it really starting to get that chill in the air. I have already bought my winter coat as well. It is very chic. A black collared swing coat (a post to follow soon!) But my favourite accessory of every season, but particularly Autumn, are scarves. There are so many shapes, textures and colours to chose from. They are everywhere and you can range from £1-100! My favourite place to buy scarves from is Accessorize they are reasonably expensive but always create a statement and feel crazily luxurious.  I wanted to show you my three favourites that I will be living out of for the coming months - you may recognise these pictures because they have been featured in previous posts.

Summer Style: the skater skirt.

As my previous posts have informed, I have been in the beautiful Brittany region of France for the last two weeks doing a crazy amount of reading, swimming, sun worshipping and of course, photography! I went to the beach, explored the coast line, swam, walked, star-gazed, ate, drank, read a total of 5 and a half books (still reading the second half!) so, all in all, a brilliant holiday. But now I am back in England, home, and can enjoy the build up to University and current Olympic games that seems to have gripped everyone's attention.

These pictures were taken outside the Town Hall of Plonovez-Porzay. Stumbling upon it whilst looking for somewhere to grab lunch, I knew I had to have my outfit snapped here. It was sunny although not particularly warm with beautiful flowers and made such a quaint little location for a town girl such as myself, it seemed a good fit.This was one of my favourite outfits I wore on my holiday, mainly because of the skater skirt. The temperature was all over the place, so I felt relieved to have brought some warmer clothes. One day I would be wondering around in just a beach dress, the next wrapped up in my hoodie. Oh, the joys of holidaying in Europe!

For those of you who are regular readers of my blog, you will know I often put a slight retro twist on outfits. I am obsessed with creating a modern retro vibe by mixing styles as well as different pieces. I like to think I have a unique style that really reflects me. It isn't always the easiest thing, finding trendy plus size clothes, but there are such great brands online, my two favourites being ASOS Curve and Newlook Inspire. I refuse to be a baggy jeans and t-shirt girl or live in an oversized smock dress just because I'm not a size 10.

 Anyway, I hope you like the pictures as well as my outfit! Now I'm gonna do some catching up on my favourite blogs so...let me know your thoughts! :)

bricks, scarves and spotty sunnies.

Today I wore a black dress, black cardi, brick coloured scarf, gold jewellery and cream spotty sun-glasses. The scarf , sunglasses and necklace are all new. I really needed some new sunnies (my brother stole my aviators!) and I fell in love with this scarf instantaneously. It is actually more of a brick colour than the orange  it looks in a few of the photos. The necklace has Aries written on it which is my star sign. I just saw it and thought it was cute, I mean, at £2.99 you can't really complain! I wore this down into town this afternoon for lunch with my family. The sun came and so it is finally starting to feel like Summer is on its way. Here are a few snaps I took today:

Hailes Hearts Henry Holland.

As I was walking through Debenhams (high-street department store) I stumbled across a new range of clothes. I saw the name Henry Holland and immediately thought I must be mistaken. But sure enough it was him and practically everything I saw, I fell in love with instantly. I came across this green satchel with a bright orange lining and reluctantly looked for the label. It was £35 but is now down to £26.25!! Both pretty reasonable prices. (Sadly) I put it on my birthday list so I can't really justify buying it in case someone else has had the same idea.

I really like this bag because I could mix it in with so many different styles. Versatility is a key when picking a day bag. It could be thrown on with a tea dress and pumps or jeans, a baggy top and fitted blazer. The satchel never fails to let me down and the fact that this one is such an unusual colour (similar to the Mulberry Satchels) makes it even more exciting and eye catching.

The collection this bag is from is called H! by Henry Holland and is is full of tea dresses and blouses mixed with a sporty edge of accessories. The Sport Luxe trend is so big here in England. I am putting it down to the Olympics being held in London this Summer. Everywhere I look, somebody is talking about it! I haven't been too thrilled by the examples I have seen of this trend on TV, neon clothes and random zips aren't really my style. Although I do like to occasionally throw in a 'current look' - this collection has the right mix of vintage, sport and androgyny with all the peter pan collars! This collection is perfect for me.

Super, Snowy Sunday.

So last night, as predicted, the snow moved over from Europe and hit us here in the UK. It snowed from about 8:30pm last night and not exactly sure what time it stopped but left us with what must have been 7-8 inches. More is apparently on its way. This is our snow day today. A perfect Sunday and plus, I got to try out my new snow boots. I cannot say they are amazingly fashionable, just pretty cool and definitely useful! I haven't fallen over once yet.

In the pictures above, I am wearing my new SNOOD. I have been waiting so very long for one and I finally found my perfect snood in the sale of one of my favourite shops, Accessorize. It was reduced from £18 to £5.40! so I bought it before anyone else had chance to take it. It is so warm and cosy. I put it on the radiator just before I went out and it was heavenly. Below is a close up of it!

Fruity Fashion.

Accessorize £9 (I DO NOT OWN THIS IMAGE)

Don't lie. You love my necklace. I know you do. And, I mean, lets be honest, why wouldn't you? It is the cutest use of the strawberry that I can think of. I don't have much money at the moment and haven't had too much of my style and outfit posts to share with you, but I felt that you needed to see this. My mum bought it for me. She saw me standing in the shop just staring at in. In a bit of a trance I think. In my head I was thinking ''I want you soo badly, why don't I have £9! Then I would buy you!!!'' and my mum came over and said, do you want it? And I was like ''no...'' because I didn't want her spending her money on me just because I looked sad. 5 minutes later I am walking around with it in my hand bag. NO!! I didn't steal it. She asked me again and I said yes. So, yeah, she bought it for me. It isn't the BEST photo because I used my Ipod Touch instead of my SLR.

Another necklace I really liked, also follows the fruity theme. I think it is such a great trend for Spring and Summer. I can see someone like Katy Perry wearing this. It has that real preppy kinda vibe! Below is another necklace I LOVE. When my money comes through, I might even treat myself to this little cute bitten apple...

P.s Even though I am re-taking my English exam this Summer, a University offered me a place last week! I plan to study English and Creative writing and will hopefully be able to get into Fashion Journalism in the future.
