Blogger Collaboration: Why Fashionistas Love Fall.

Hailes (me) from Hailes Hearts Fashion

Before I remember loving fashion, I remember loving Autumn. It was always my favourite season. I liked how it had a bit of sunshine left from the Summer and developed a cold chill as the Winter approached. As I got older, I started to associate Autumn with a lovely new coat ready for the new school year. For me now, it is when I dig my boots out, have a daily debate about which scarf to wear and spend 99% of my time dreaming of those beautiful hues. Since becoming a blogger, I've developed a habit of saying Fall when discussing Autumn fashion because I am so used to reading it on my favourite blogs. But yes, I am English and I do commonly refer to it as Autumn when surrounded by my fellow Englishman/woman.

Anyway, enough about me. A few of my blogger friends are gonna tell you why they love Fall...

Maddie from Call Me Maddie

The things I love about fall are: the beautiful, beautiful nature- for me there is nothing more enjoyable than going out of the city and just enjoying the beautiful parks and forests filled with red and yellow leaves; and fall fashion. The garment group that I love most about fall must be knitwear! I think I have approximately 20 sweaters in my closet! Knitwear is also the best solution to help me to withstand the chilly months of fall, especially November, when the temperature usually is already under 0oC! So basically fall for me is knits + knits + even more knits, haha!

Sheila from She is Lovely

The reason why I love Fall so much is because of all the pretty colours that the season has to offer.  I always get excited when I see all the leaves changing colours because it means that we need to start transitioning from Summer to Fall wardrobe. My favourite trend for the Fall season is chunky knit sweaters with lots of layering! Living in Seattle it always gets chilly so layering is key! Also, I love that the Holidays are coming up soon and it’ll be good times with family and friends with lots of good food!

Maiken from Part of Me
First of all, I strongly doubted if I should take part in Hayley's post. Why? Because I'm definitely not a fashionista, that's for sure. Anyway, after all I'm still here to tell you why I love autumn as a fashion season.

1. I can wear (long) jeans/pants and especially my coloured or patterned pairs like the one you can see when you look at my outfit here in this post for example. During summer I just don't wear anything else but dresses, skirts or shorts.
2. I can layer my over sized (mostly thrifted) comfy cardigans and sweaters whenever and however I want to.
3. I can soon wear my classic faux fur coats and jackets.
4. And like I said I'm not a fashionista so what I additionally love, off the subject but still, is the fact Christmas will be here already soon. I don't love the cold, the slipperiness and the snow but I do love Christmas and autumn does stand next to winter and Christmas!

Bree from The Urban Umbrella

I suppose it's somewhat funny but admittedly I am completely addicted to fall fashion even though I absolutely despise cold weather. What makes it even more silly is that throughout the summer months I so look forward to wearing cozy knits, layered styles and rich fall tones that I forget entirely that come fall, come cold!

Fall Fashion to me is all about layering and exploring different ways to add in cozy knits as well as rich fall colour tones. But this year more than any other, I've found  (and totally loved!) that there are more styling options than ever before because there are so many great trends this year that are not only wearable for day to day, but also they mix incredibly with fall style classics. One of my favourite trends lately has been mixing prints and have found it's a great way to build up a fall outfit to have a lot of depth and interest. In the outfit above I am mixing a very fall-esque navy polka dotted sweater over a leopard print blouse, one of my favourite print-mixes, which creates a cozy yet sophisticated look. If you haven't given mixing prints a try yet this fall than definitely do, you may just end up falling in love these new fall pairings like I did!

I hope you've enjoyed reading why we love this time of year. Now I'd like to know what you love best about Autumn/ Fall. Comment below or tweet me!

the return of the fringe.

Today was a nice day.

I wore my new dress. It only cost me £5.

I had my hair cut. Hence, the return of the fringe.

I wore my favourite leather jacket and somehow managed to avoid the rain.

It was a little sunny.

I drunk tea and read and vlogged.

This is me today :)

Happy Wednesday!

P.S Thanks to Charl, from A Place on the Bookshelf, my new outfit photographer (while I'm at uni!)

Autumn Inspired Make-up

I've decided to share one of my Autumn make up looks with you because for once, I actually have some very on trend make up! While on holiday, I bought the nicest little eye shadow palette which is strange for me because I pretty much gave up eye shadow about three years ago. Over the summer you may also remember I acquired a lovely Bobby Brown gel eyeliner and in the last couple of weeks I bought myself a (out of my comfort) dark red lipstick.

I feel I should also mention, I use nothing on my skin, apart from Benefits Lemonaid for blemishes. I steer clear of foundation and face powder as it makes me spotty and rarely matches my very very pale complexion.

TREND: In the September issue of ELLE, they recommended trying 'the metallic eye' and 'midnight lip' both of which I have attempted in my look below.

Your thoughts? (excuse the 'selfies')

For this look I used:

Bobbi Brown's Gel Eyeliner 31 Steel Ink
Bobbi Brown's Ultra Fine Eye Liner Brush
Kiko's 02 Street Taupe Eye Shadow Palette
Benefit's Lemonaid
Benefit's Brow Kit
Maybelline's The One Volume Express Mascara
Revlon's 477 Black Cherry Lipstick

Looking forward to reading your comments!

HHF: Confessions of a Shopaholic.

If you follow me on twitter, you may well know that for the first time this week, I watched Confessions of a Shopaholic. I've wanted to watch it for as long as I can remember and finally got around to doing so on Thursday night. It was great and I felt a little like the main character, Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fisher), accept that she is stunning and her character shops designer which I, clearly, do not. I almost wondered whether it was an insight into my poor but still a shopaholic future. Rebecca is also desperate to be a fashion journalist and she has red hair. See? We are practically the same person...

(I do not own this image)
Here are my confessions:

I often justify purchases with insane thoughts: I might die tomorrow, and it'd be a real shame that I denied myself the last thing that'd make me happy! (Yes, a new scarf.)

I have been known to hide bags in bags as to deceive my friends/ family as to how much I have just bought.

It comes in green and blue? I'll take both.

Every time I buy something, my store card gets more points. It's a justified investment into my future.

My card isn't being rejected? I must have plenty of money left.

Do I need this? No. Do I want it? Yes.

It's £5? I'll take it. I mean, it's hideous but it's only £5.

I often end up in Newlook (or other clothes shop) when I'm supposed to be going food shopping.

Most people check their emails or Facebook when they first set their laptop up. I see if Newlook have added new stock online.

Right, so I have £25 for food this week (£20 of it goes on a new dress and the left over £5 buys me two tins of beans, a loaf of bread and a pint of milk).

If you're a shopaholic too, please leave a comment telling me your biggest shopping confession or tweet me @HHeartsFashion. I'd love to hear from you! It might also make me feel like I'm a little less crazy...
