Coloured Locks - Love or Loathe?

Nicki Minaj with her Barbie Pink Barnet (I do not own this image)

Katy Perry with her Bright Blue locks  (I do not own these images)
Are you bored with your Brown hair? Well maybe you should take a leaf out of the Celebs books and dye your hair a vibrant violet. Throughout history, hair has been as big a part of fashion as clothes, bags and make-up. If you are invited to a 60's themed party, you may think of styling your hair in a cute bob or a Bridget Bardot up-do. In the last couple of years with Celebrities like Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry hitting our screens we have seen some very experimental fashion, eccentric make-up and crazy hair styles. So should I die my hair pink? It is difficult because part of me loves these crazy colours and another part thinks it can look a bit cheap. Well maybe instead I could try a slightly less in-your-face look and dye the tips of my hair a light pink like Dakota Fanning...

So my question to you all is, Do you Love or Loathe these kooky colours? Let me know your thoughts by leaving a comment below!

Well, when I was in high school I wanted to dye my hair like a color from the crayon box but my mom didn't allow it... especially since I would have to bleach my hair - I have black hair. So I just got blue/black dye and settled with that...even though there wasn't much of a change. As far as my opinion about it now, I think it all depends on the person and their profession. If their work allows them to have blue or pink locks, then go for it. For me, I think I've outgrown that phase.

Its such an easy way to ruin your hair. I'm sure there are lots of products out there that are better than others when you want to do this. But I can remember a time when I knew plenty in school who destroyed their hair with Kool-aid. Don't do that. Lately I see a lot of pink tips. Occasion, I like the dark green in dark hair, but I've never wanted to do it.

A very interesting post. I don't hate it, but I'd never want to do it.

It looks fun. Just have to be really careful. I think it would be more for Halloween or for a concert. You know, temporary. Like, the wash out kind.

This makes me think of Lola and the Boy Next Door. The main character Lola was always changing the color of her hair. She always wanted to be somebody else.

Great post.

I stopped colouring my hair in the beginning of 2011, now I only pick some highlights when I feel I want to. and I have had pink highlights ;)
when it comes to those ladies here I think Dakota looks nice but the others - a big no no for me. blue is rather horrible and Rihanna's hair is kind of off too. well, Nicki doesn't wear her own hair anyway, hehe. so, my suggestion is that if you like pink, then choose highlights or dye the tips, not your whole hair. it just ruins your hair and grows out and will look bad then :P

I did my tips teal last summer for a little bit. It was fun and got the whole crazy-colored-hair thing out of my system. You're young--if you want to dye your hair pink, I say go for it! Tips are pretty safe, anyway. I just had mine cut off last year. Easy way to get rid of the color!

I think it's very risky to dye all your hair in pink blue or any other color. Yes for the ombre hair, It's less risky and it does bring a change.

I like colored hair. On some people. Not on me. Or in real life, really. Celebrities can do it because they don't have real jobs.

I loved your life story about wasps. I HATE WASPS. They can definitely smell fear because they always seem to target me, but they leave Mr. A alone. It's stupid.

Depends on the person I think. Tips are my favourite....most people can make that work. I really do NOT like Kelly O's hair at the mo. But hey...to each her own, right? Great post Hailes!!!

I think they're cool in a way but there aren't many people who can wear coloured hair, at least these neon colours! But I really like dip-dyed hair!
